Brand Focus | Kevyn Aucoin
There's something about finding a beauty brand you love and sticking with it very satisfying. Maybe it's the fact that over time you build up an outrageous collection and end up having every single piece available, or just finding a brand you love and picking up a few products here and there. For me, this brand is Kevyn Aucoin, a brand I first tried a long time ago but have recently become pretty obsessed with and now recommend to everyone. Being the creator of the 'contour' himself, Kevyn Aucoin is known as a makeup legend and the makeup artist who continues to inspire the world of beauty. Since trying my first product out, I instantly fell in love with the brand and so being a beauty blogger, headed straight back to SpaceNK to pick up my next batch of goodies, from eyes to face, here is my mini brand focus with the wonderful Kevyn Aucoin...
Saying I am a fan of Kevyn Aucoin eye products would be an understatement, I am a total fanatic when it comes to Kevyn and eyes. Eye shadows, liners, mascaras, curlers, creams, powders, it's simply the best and something I struggle to leave SpaceNK without. Starting with the The Eye Pencil Primatif, this is probably the softest, silkiest and easiest pencil you will ever use, think Charlotte Tilbury Rock N Kohl Liners but with a smudger on one end and more precision. One of these pencils in Basic Black should be an essential in all girls makeup bags, they apply effortlessly in one easy swipe, they are rich in pigmentation and have an incredible lasting powder. These are basically a simple, sexy smokey eye in a stick.
Now, a tool I believe every women needs in their makeup bag is an eye lash curler. If you're a fan of the famous Shu Umera curlers then I have a feeling you will be an even bigger fan of these. The Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler has been designed to give dramatically different lashes which look natural but beautifully curled. To get the best results with these curlers then one of his iconic mascaras is essential and with 3 formulations on offer, there is something for all kind of eyes. For thick, dramatic lashes that flutter and dazzle then you need (emphasis on the need) to head to your nearest SpaceNK and grab The Volume Mascara. The thin wand in beautiful red packaging separates each lash giving clump free, volumptous lashes that stay in place all day without dropping. If you aren't bothered about volume or already have thick black lashes then you'll be after The Curing Mascara which wraps your lashes in a thick black formula, elongates them and creates whopping curls to dazzle all day. If you're simply after an all rounder then grab The Essential Mascara which curls and volumises your lashes within seconds and instead of the straight thin wand, this one is curved and you could say, a little fatter.
If theres one brow product I would recommend to absolutely anyone and everyone then it would be the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil. Everything from the shape of the pencil and the shade selection to just how easy it is to apply is just ideal, it's everything a girl could wish for all packed into a slim pencil with a simple twist up function. This brow pencil is so easy to apply- you can use really thin strokes for the most natural looking brows or you can simply smudge in some colour to enhance your existing brow shape.
Another product that is definitely worth picking up from the range for easy and smouldering eyes is the eye shadows. With a few options available, there's The Eye Shadow Duo which includes two sophisticated shades suitable to wear alone or pair together for a really glamorous look or you can opt for The Single Eye Shadow which comes in six matte shades which can be worn all over the lid alone or with a damp brush for a more intensified look. The shadow I have (shown in the photo) is one I received in a set and is The Essential Single Eye Shadow These are incredibly soft shadows that come in a mix of matte and metallic shades that give a long lasting, crease free, pigmented finish.
After being tempted for such a long time by the Candlelight & Sculpting Creamy Glow Duo,when I was in the Bristol SpaceNK recently, I had my makeup done by the wonderful Ellie who works for Kevyn Aucoin and there was no way I was leaving without this in my bag. The formula of the contour shade and highlight is by far the creamiest product I have ever used and the easiest cream product to blend and build. The sculpting shade is such a natural brown shade it creates a soft shadow, enhancing my face and defining my cheek bones for a creamy contour look. The highlight shade gives such a beautiful pearly glow that I kind of dot it around my face, focussing on the tops of my cheeks, cupids bow, the bridge of my nose, brow bone and any other places I want to accentuate. The ultra lightweight cream provides a glow without looking shimmery or glittery.
