In Flight Essentials
Tell me if I'm weird or if you think the same way, but one of the most exciting parts of going on holiday for me, is packing. There's just something incredibly satisfying and exciting about emptying your wardrobe, planning outfits and picking your your favourite pieces to take away with you. Although in my case, the end result is usually rolling up everything as small as I can so I can fit my entire summer wardrobe into my case. It's a girl thing... Aswell as packing up a case, I always take a bag on the plane with me and stuff it with some essentials that I'll be using during the flight or once landed to ensure my skin is back to normal when we've hit land. This year, I'll be landing in Marjorca for some family time in the sun and as you're reading this, I will be mid flight. Perfect timing or what? ENOUGH rambling from me about my flight, let's talk about what happens mid flight. The air conditioning on planes always dies out my skin so I make sure I've stocked up on hydrating products to keep everything balanced and under control. Balms, creams and illuminators will also be my flying friends this year so I'm not a dull faced mess when I step off the plane. Delving into my in flight bag, here's what's coming with me.
The Hydrators | I usually go a little over board on packing my skincare for a flight and kind of add in totally random bits so this year I kept it simple and just added the essentials for locking in moisture, replenishing hydration levels and keeping everything soft. I packed my Nourish Toning Mist for a mid flight re fresher as I hate the feeling of tight, dry skin when in the air so this is the perfect companion to keep me cool. I also packed my This Works SPF 30 In Transit Skin Defence as I can layer this on when taking off to keep my skin moisturised during the flight and then I can add another layer when landing to protect me from the sun once arrived and to give me another dose of hydration. For hands, I dropped in my mini This Works Hand Cream which is rich and nourishing to keep hands soft and cuticles cleansed.
The Multi Tasker | A balm that acts as a dry skin cure, cuticle protector, lip treatment and skin healer is an absolute must have on a flight. For this I packed my Dr. PAWPAW Original Balm which is the perfect balm that does it all. I slather this on my lips all the time to nourish and relief dry patches and not only is it a great in flight essential, it's a sun burn healer so I will be using it as a pool side essential too!
The Beauty | To freshen up my look when I land I've taken a few beauty bits with me this year. I've taken my Elemis Beauty Flash Balm to add some luminosity to my skin and to kick start the holiday glow, Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Duo to double up on the highlight, Benefit Cha Chat Tint to add a coral hue to my cheeks and finally my By Terry Baume De Rose in Cherry Bomb to add a high shine gloss with a light tint of colour. By keeping everything at a minimum, I've added some natural radiance and colour to my face that looks subtle and healthy.
The Time Passers | Although my flight is relatively quick and isn't lasting any longer than 3 hours, I still like to take some bits to keep my occupied to make the light go that little bit quicker. This year, I'm taking some new books to read and will pick up a magazine at the airport where I will add everything from the beauty edit to my wish list... I'm also going to be taking my laptop so I can draft some posts whilst in the air! The book I've chosen to read on the flight is I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh which sounds oh SO gripping.
