Best of Boots & Superdrug
This post pretty much explains whats going to happen in the title really. Top 6 in the drugstore A.K.A the best products you can find in your local Boots. When it comes to picking the products for these kind of posts, I do always struggle, cutting it down to less than 10 products is harder than you think so it came to which stuff I use on a daily basis, which products beat some high end picks and just some all time loves that I keep re purchasing and re purchasing. Despite being a sucker for high end makeup, there's some drugstore in me somewhere and there's nothing more satisfying then heading into Boots, building a basket and coming out with it all, sometimes a whole new makeup bag, sometimes a new skincare shelf. We all do it and we all love it. There's a skincare brand favourite, nail polishes in every shade and a fake tan what will give you the summer glow you want. I do love a good ole' bargain.
Starting with the nail varnishes I cannot stop wearing and have been jazzing up my hands with for months, we have Barry M. With a huuuuuuuge selection of finishes coming in nearly every shade imaginable, Barry M have your summer nails sorted. If I'm feeeling something glossy that pops in colour then I love the High Shine Polishes in Papaya, Bluebell and Rosehip but if I need something that can be applied and has dried in seconds then the Speedy Dry Polish in Eat My Dust is where it's at.
Finding a drugstore bronzer as good as NARS Laguna was always going to be hard and after trying No7, Loreal, Rimmel I was beginning to lose hope and it wasn't until I saw my beauty guru Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup chatting about Soap and Glory Solar Powder, I knew I had to try it. For Β£11 and a drugstore bronzer, this delivers in the department and ticks all the right boxes of looking natural and adding a subtle warm glow to my skin.
When it comes to lipstick in Boots, you actually have a pretty good choice, Bourjois Velvet Mattes, Max Factor, Loreal, you name it, but for me, you can't beat a Revlon Lip Butter. For something creamy, soft and lightweight then these are ideal, I go through the A/W in them to the S/S and am yet to find a drugstore lippy quite so creamy and dreamy. If I'm after something nude then Creme Brulee is my go to shade but for a peachy shine in summer, you can't beat Peach Parfait.
Picking out makeup brushes that are soft, high quality and of a reasonable price is a very tricky task so unless you're up for empting your purse at the MAC or Bobbi Brown counter, Real Techniques is your best bet. I've still got a long list of all the brushes I want to try from the brand, including the entire Bold Metals collection, but two I love and couldn't be without is my Blush Brush and Expert Face Brush. For a flawless application of foundation and TM or something to seamlessly buff a cream contour / blush into your skin then the EFB is perrrrfect whereas for something light and fluffy to apply your bronzer with then go grab the Blush Brush.
Now, onto the reallly exciting bit. Skincare. We all say that investing in skincare is something we all do (or try to do) but to be quite honest with you, you can find some amazing skincare bits on the shelves of Boots, including the number 1 drugstore brand, Super Facialist. A brand I have been trying for a while now and one that I cannot recommend enough. If you're after something hydrating then check out the Rose Hydrate range but if you want something to control oil then they sell my favourite ever clay mask. Una Brennan has got you covered.
If there's one thing us girls alllll love doing at this time of the year or at least we try to love doing, then it's fake tanning. Oh yes. Now I'm sure we all have a funny story about tanning experiences, watsit legs, patchy elbows or just a plain awful tan, we've all been there. Truth be told, I do love my St Tropez but that isn't something I can afford all the time or want to hand my cash over on so I've been hunting for a drugstore alterantive ever since and I have finally found the one. Coco Brown Tan is GOOOOOD stuff gals. With a tan suiting everyones needs we have the mousse, the liquid leg tan, a gradual tan, instant, seriously, Coco Brown have it all and I cannot recommend it enough. If you want a beautiful dark tan in 1 hour then grab a bottle of the 1 Hour Tan Mousse or if you prefer to build your tan up over time, then pick up the Gradual Tanner. Both results are amaaaaazing and I look like I've just got back from a 3 week trip around the Greek Islands, win win.
