Everything You Need From New Skincare Brand Typology
Clean and minimal packaging, affordable prices and highly effective active ingredients with roots in Paris - this is Typology. The new (ish) skincare brand on the block that’s had everyone on Instagram using and talking about throughout lockdown. Created by Ning Li, the founder of homeware brand, MADE.COM, Typology is an already pretty-well established brand in France that’s now come over to the UK and everyone is raving about it. The brand ethos is strong with an emphasis on sustainability, recycled packaging and ensuring each product has only essential, active ingredients in to deliver the best results.
There are multiple ranges within the brand, spanning lip care and moisturisers to cleansing oils and concentrated serums - something for all. I’ve been trialling the range for the past 2 months and have picked out the products that work, don’t work and ultimately, the ones worth purchasing.
Details below…
Hyaluronic Acid Serum*
Formulated with 3% Hyaluronic Acid, 2% Pro Vitamin B5 and 1% Bio-sourced Aquaxyl, Typology have created a highly concentrated hydrating serum that over time is going to restore skins moisture and visibly improve skins tone. As we age, our bodies produce less hyaluronic acid which leads to dryness and the appearance of finer lines on the skins surface so introducing a HA serum into your daily routine (AM & PM) is going to significantly improve skins hydration levels, restore moisture to the skin and ensure a healthy looking complexion.
Salicylic Acid Serum*
2% Salicylic Acid and 1% Zinc, this is the treatment that is going to reduce and prevent blemishes. Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid, aka, a chemical exfoliant that eliminates dead skin cells and the development of harmful microorganisms, making it the ideal ingredient for ‘cleaning and clearing’ the skins surface layers. Zinc is quite often combined with Salicylic Acid as it’s a super ingredient for reducing sebum secretion and helping to maintain a balanced complexion. I use this at night and only when my skin looks/feels as though it needs it.
11% Vitamin C and 3% Albizia Julibrissin Extract are the two main active ingredients here that are going to combat harmful free radicals that can oxidise skin cells and create a dull complexion. Vit C is a powerhouse ingredient like no other in that it helps the skin to receive more oxygen, which leads to a clearer, brighter complexion. I use this in the morning post Hyaluronic Acid.
A divine, silky oil that acts as a great first cleanse to breakdown and remove makeup. Along-side being made up of just 7 ingredients, it’s fragrance free, making it ideal for all skin types, including sensitive. The main ingredient is sweet almond oil which not only gives it a heavenly scent, is known for its nourishing properties and ability to calm the skin, alleviating it of any irritation.
This balm has been formulated with only the essential ingredients to re-hydrate, protect and nourish lips. The shea butter offers inflammatory and protection, lemon extract ives it a cooling and refreshing tingle whilst oils and vitamin E deeply nourish.
9 Ingredient Hydrating Facial Moisturiser*
A gel / cream hybrid moisturiser that is thicker than your usual gel lotion but lighter than a thick cream and formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, making it perfect for normal to dehydrated skin types that need a moisture boost in the mornings. HA, as we know is a powerhouse ingredient for retaining moisture in the skin as it can retain up to 1,000x its weight in water, providing skin with an instant shot of hydration that last all day. As this is lighter in texture than others, it’s perfect for Summer and wearing underneath makeup.
