The Best Highlighters For A Summer Glow
If there is one season in the year to fake that glow, lighten up those cheeks and give your skin that luminous effect, it's Summer and highlighters are the perfect product to help achieve a healthy complexion. Highlighting is the favourite part of my makeup routine and I have tried and tested so many different formula's, brands and application techniques, leading me to find my top picks. When looking for a highlighter, I focus on the shade and love anything champagne or lightly golden as these are what suit my skin tone and compliment my complexion. I tend to opt for a cream or liquid formula as these are what I find easiest to apply and are the ones that look the most natural on my skin, however I still love a powder that gives a pop of shimmer to the cheekbones. Anything for a glow.
The Cream - Benefit Watt's Up
An oldie, but a goodie. Benefit Watt's Up is one of first highlighters I used and still, one of the best. With it's easy to apply stick applicator, it's something you can apply in a rush in the morning or if you are on the go by car, bus, train or plane. Alongside it's super quick application, the formulation of the soft champagne shade is just beautiful. The subtle golden champagne hue compliments all skin tones and gives a lovely luminous sheen to the face without looking too much. Due to the incredibly creamy consistency, Watt's Up can be blended seamlessly into the skin, giving a lit from within, effortless look. Perfect for some everyday glam.
The Liquid - Perricone MD No Highlighter Highlighter *
This bottle of pure luminosity is the newest to my collection and by far, a favourite. Perricone's No Highlighter Highlighter is the perfect pop of glow for something subtle and natural as it gives the most beautiful glow that doesn't leave a trace of glitter, keeping your complexion look flawless and dewy. The incredibly lightweight and liquid-y formula makes it very easy to tap into the skin with either a damp sponge or the tips of your fingers. With a light reflective pearl pigment, this guarantees glowy cheekbones that simply enhances your skin without masking or looking fake. I love how this formula melts into the skin and really looks like my skin, but better. I love to use this either alone with some natural looking blush or blended onto the high points of my face over my base of choice.
The Powder - Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight
A light dusting of highlighter from one of my favourite beauty brands is the perfect way to finish off a makeup look. Kevyn's Candlelight highlighter is a powder, yet it holds such a soft, buttery formula with a pigment that provides a light shimmer on the skin without looking too glittery or disco ball esq. The pearly, pale champagne hue can be applied either just on the high points of the face but as it is such a subtle highlight, I also dust this across my forehead, cheeks and chin to keep my makeup in place but to also add to my glow.
What are your favourite highlighters and which should I try next?
