Everything I've Loved This Month - Amour Ophelia

Oh September where did you go?! September for me began with starting a new job which is definitely why the month flew by for me. As I write this on a cold Autumnal Sunday, we’ve fully embraced October… As a country we’ve said goodbye to the long hot Summer days and slowly we’re starting to see early morning frosts with cold blue skies, the fires are lit and evening drinks in the garden seem almost a lifetime ago… So as most end of the months go, it’s time for a wrap up of everything I’ve loved, emptied and used on repeat throughout September but I’m starting to shake things up a bit. I was feeling uninspired with my 'Monthly Favourites’, finding that some months I wouldn’t have much to report back on as I’d stuck to the same products or only had a couple of new bits to share and they left me in a creative rut each month.

From now on, this series will be a ‘Everything I’ve Loved This Month’, sometimes you may even see a weekly feature sneak in if there’s been a few products that I just can’t wait until the end of the month to share with you properly. In here you’ll of course find endless beauty recommendations but expect to see TV shows, films, podcasts books, fashion and more!

What I’ve been USING…

Amour Ophelia September Monthly Favourites

The makeup:

Vita Liberata Beauty Blur Skin Tone Optimizer*: Wondering how to get that sunless glow look without taking a trip abroad? A tube of this in Latte. Designed to be a ‘do-it-all’ skin tone optimiser, this light fluid will perfectly enhance your complexion, giving you a tint of colour and a gorgeous glow.

Rosie for Autograph Contour Stick*: Instead of dusting NARS Laguna all over my face I’ve taken to a bronze/contour stick and this one from Rosie HW is so incredibly creamy that it blends effortlessly into the skin for a holiday glow across the temples and cheeks whilst sculpting the cheek bones and jaw line at the same time.

Glossier Dawn Cloud Paint*: The most beautiful, highly pigmented and glow boosting gel blushes on the market and this heavenly rich orange shade in Dawn is described by Glossier as ‘sunny coral’; the perfect hue to blend over a bronzed complexion and finished off on the lips and lids.

Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter Palette*: A bar of absolute gold. 3 beautiful skin glistening pigments that I’ve been dusting over my cheeks, nose and cupids bow for a magical skin glow.

Slip Silk Scrunchies*: Say goodbye to Invisibobbles and say hello to 90’s Rachel Green inspired silk scrunchies, the next best thing and the only thing to currently wrap itself around my hair. These things are really quite incredible; non slip, no pulling, no knots and they look oh so chic.

WHAT I’VE BEEN…

Watching: There’s been 3 TV shows that that took up all of my time in September, starting with one that had the entire country hooked; The BodyGuard. Chances are you’ve seen it but if you haven’t, stop what you’re doing and binge the entire series on iPlayer now. It’s tense, gripping and leaving you wanting more each time an episode ends. Once The BG was over, I binged Killing Eve in 2 sittings. A comical, thrilling and gripping show about Russian Assassins and spies that is full of brutality and a murderer who you learn to love. Killing Eve has been my absolute favourite BBC drama that I’ve watched in a long time and for me it topped The BodyGaurd (partly for Villanelle’s immense wardrobe) but mainly for the sublime script written by Phoebe Waller-bridge that is the perfect balance of being both comical and tragic. Jodie Comers performance can only be described as majestic. In-between murders, Russian assassins and Government dramas, I’ve been watching Netflix original A-Typical (something far more feel good and light hearted), a series that follows a teenage boy with Autism and his families daily musings, learnings and changes. Easy to watch and incredibly touching.

Reading: Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ngl: Celeste’s debut novel and a literary thriller that follows a family in the 70’s living in Ohio who’s daughter goes missing.

Listening to: The High Low by Pandora Sykes and Dolly Alderton: Being one of my favourite double acts out there and two of my favourite journalists (Pandora Sykes and Dolly Alderton), The High Low is one of my favourite podcasts for a reason. Expect weekly episodes covering off current news and pop-culture and prepare to be inspired as they reveal their wisdoms, wit and wonderfulness.

Love, Jasmine
