Escaping ice cold London for 4 days of sunshine, sangria and tapas in a perfectly formed Mediterranean city certainly did not disappoint. Having spent a lot of time here as a young child, I was excited to come back and explore the city as an adult and with Kai, to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed at the HM Balenguera which was perfect for what we wanted; close to the centre, pool and a modern, clean decor throughout.

We spent our time exploring the historic streets of the old town, roof top sunbathing, drinking crisp Rioja, sharing refreshing jugs of cold sangria and eating some fo the most delicious tapas including grilled octopus, salt cod fritters and patatas bravas. Every corner of this cosmopolitan city has something to offer, making every day a laid back delight.
