The Amour Ophelia Makeup Edit
It’s here, all in one place, the Amour Ophelia Makeup Edit. Every piece of makeup in each category, that I love and use regularly. In here is everything from primers and bases to complexion, brows and lips. This is your little black book and reference list to come back to find all the makeup I love. I’ll be updating this list as and when I discover new products I love!
GLOWING PRIMER
The first step in my makeup routine and one I rely on for a moisture and glow boost pre tinted moisturiser or foundation.
TINTED MOISTURISER
For me, this is what I use for my everyday base product. I like skin tints that are simply going to even my skin tone and add a light layer of coverage that blends seamlessly and becomes apart of my skin. I always use products with a fresh and dewy finish that makes skin ooze with radiance.
FOUNDATION
If require something that makes skin look perfected and is ultra long-lasting (a special occasion / event) then I’ll reach for a foundation. Again, I much prefer dewy finishes that I can powder on top of if needs be.
CONCEALER
I have blue undertones under my eyes so I’ll always apply a light reflecting concealer that helps to brighten, reduce any dark circles and helps to make the eye area look more awake. I mix between creamy pots and liquids but Glossier Stretch has been my favourite for the past couple of years.
CREAM BLUSH
I absolutely love using cream makeup products as they help to achieve the fresh, dewy finish I like on my skin and with the right formula, the blush looks apart of your skin and not a colour thats sitting on the skin. I have many favourites in this category, mixing from creamy pots, multi-tasking sticks and liquid tubes. Anything nude, peach or dusky pinks are the colours you’ll find in my collection.
POWDER BLUSH
Sometimes I do want a stronger blush and that is when I’ll reach for a powder but there are only a few brands I trust for powder blush that still makes the skin look healthy - NARS, Hourglass, Laura Mercier, BECCA and Benefit.
BRONZER
This is one of my favourite makeup steps as I LOVE that sun-kissed, healthy glow to the skin. I usually apply a cream first for a natural glow and powder on top for a stronger, more sculpted finish. Each of the below look beautiful on the skin and have been long standing favourites.
HIGHLIGHTER
This step is always cream or liquid for me as I find powder highlight doesn’t blend into the skin all that well without looking as though it’s sitting on top. I reach for any shade that sits within being a champagne, peach or bronze and apply this down my nose, on the tops of my cheek bones, cupids bow and brow bone to really light up the face and tie everything together,
BROWS
I very much like a really natural looking brow so rely on a waxy pencil and a gel to groom, define and sculpt. I also always brush my brows backwards for the ‘brushed up effect’ and use my pencil in upward motions.
MASCARA
I love the effect that mascara gives; opening the eyes and bringing a makeup look together. For day-time, I like a lengthened look and in the evenings, I tend to opt for something more dramatic.
EYESHADOW
Light browns and bronze hues are my go to colours when it comes to eyeshadow. Most days I use a cream stick as they’re super easy to apply and blend but I also love creamy pots and buffing different powers together.
LIPSTICKS
Nudes are my go to lip colour but sometimes I do opt for a bold red (I love this look paired with bronzed skin). Anything balmy and hydrating with a decent pigment is what I reach for in a lipstick as it needs to be comfortable to wear all day.
LIP TINTS
My favourite favourite products. I love all lip balms from tinted to neutral, matte to glossy and use them regularly throughout the day to ensure my lips remain hydrated and nourished.
