Makeup Look: Minimal & Dewy
My day-to-day makeup routine these days is quick, easy, effortless and I tend to keep products to a minimum, using the ones that I know work for me; products that ensure everything remains very fresh and add a natural glow. I love trying out new products but recently have found a routine that works for me and each and every one of the products involved are now my beauty heroes, staples and cult products in my makeup bag. With weather, central heating and plenty of chocolate, cheese and wine over Christmas, January is the month for re-balancing my skin and so I use products that are going to give me a healthy glow all over and not mask my complexion. Simple beauty that works.
BASE/
Once I've applied my skincare; eye-cream, serum and a hydrating face oil, I like to even out my complexion very naturally, using something that covers any redness or imperfections but still lets my natural skin shine through and for this, I'm using an old favourite from Laura Mercier. I've used her Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser for such a long time now but the glow that gives is a little too much for Winter so I'm opting for the Oil Free Tined Moisturiser in Bisque. Offering a little more coverage, this is an extremely build-able and long wearing product that still adds a lovely glow to my skin.
CHEEKS/
I've been keeping the rest of my base makeup pretty minimalistic and let my naturally flushed cheeks do the work in the blush department so I only really go in with highlighter and bronzer next, to add a light contour and highlight to accentuate my bone structure. To bronze and sculpt, I've been using the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in medium which is the perfect grey toned matte hue that gives me super sharp cheek bones by adding shadows and depth to the contours of my face. To highlight, I'm really loving glossy creams as I find these give the most natural effect and wear the best throughout the day and my go to for a balmy, subtle look is the GLOSSIER Haloscope in Moonstone. An opalescent highlight with an oil infused core that hydrates for an extra dewy finish.
EYES & BROWS/
Eye makeup for me is always very 'au natural' and lately, I've been skipping out on eyeshadow all together, purely for speed and ease so dramatic, full lashes are the centre of my current eye look. To add volume, colour and a good length, I apply around 2 strokes of the Delilah Definitive Volumising Mascara which comes with a big fluffy brush to coat the lashes evenly and naturally.
For brows, I always use a gel as pencils take too much precision work in the mornings and naturally, my brows are quite full so not much filling in is needed. Switching between the two, the Suqqu Volume Eyebrow Mascara and Delilah Brow Gel have been my most reached for gels as they add a slight tint of colour but mainly, add shape and a full brushed up brow look.
LIPS/
I tend to avoid lip balms in the cold Winter months and stick to hydrating lip tints or a nourishing, thick lip balm. I'm totally obsessed with the Avéne Cold Cream Lip Balm* at the moment, it's incredibly moisturising, adds a lovely light balmy gloss to the lip and tastes delicious. I slather on layers of this pre, during and post makeup to ensure the cold and central heating don't suck the moisture out of my lips entirely.
