Current Beauty Loves
With a very low number sitting in my bank account and pay day on the horizon, I've been resisting numerous SpaceNK trips and Feel Unique orders recently in order to save some money. With this in mind, I wanted to have a rummage through my beauty stash and work out what I've got and what looks I can create with my products or anything I've kind of disowned lately. This is one of those tasks that you think won't take long (like re arranging your room) so you start at some ridiculous hour at night and find yourself sat in the same place 3 hours later... Whilst having a dig around in my makeup drawers I found some old products which had been shoved to the bottom of my pile but also picked out some new additions or some on going favourites that I wanted to bring out and start wearing again. Although this wasn't quite as satisfying as coming home with a bag of new SpaceNK goodies, I did save a lot of money and found a product I totally forgot about. After picking out four products, two new loves and two oldies, I've kinda got myself a new base routine.
A product I haven't used for some serious time was the first thing I stumbled across. A brand I haven't tried many products from but one that is very much on the horizon and is becoming more and more well known. This brand goes by the name of Jane Iredale and the product I've been loving is her Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener. If you read my Primer Edit then you'll know how much I love a primer that hydrates and adds a touch of radiance and this does just that. In sleek bronze gold packaging, we have a light textured primer that smooths over moisturised skin and minimises the appearance of pores whilst increasing luminosity and improves skins glow. This primer is incredibly quenching, hydrating skin throughout the day and as the anti ageing properties get to work, it firms skin on the go. My complexion looks smooth, clear and radiant, the ultimate pre foundation step.
For radiant, flawless but natural looking skin then my NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser works the best over the Jane Iredale primer. The light weight, liquid consistency blends seamlessly into the skin either with a beauty blender or buffing brush and sets in place all day. For luminous, luxurious looking skin I apply a small amount of this all over, focussing on the places where I need extra coverage and blend blend blend, making sure everything is evened out and I have a smooth canvas. Formulated with skin brightening benefits this instantly replenishes dehydrated skin and removes any signs of pores, wrinkles and lines, combating ageing, troubled and normal skin. With it's sheer consistency, this isn't the most full coverage of bases but on the good skin days it rocks and does cover small blemishes or any redness. What I love most about this, is that it contains SPF 30 meaning you have your protection sorted in one easy step.
Whilst digging up the primer, I re discovered my Benefit Erase Paste which is my go to A/W concealer as it fixes any dryness and conceals any signs of tiredness. To say my eyes have been looking tired lately is an under statement, back are the dark circles so it's time to bring out a concealer that is thick and creamy with a peach undertone that cancels out any blue tones and redness. Not only does this little pot last forever, it's formulation is just ideal. Although it looks incredibly thick in the pot, it's not at all cakey and once warmed up in the palm of your hand, it blends seamlessly under the eyes without creasing or causing build up. This is the concealer to have if you suffer from dark circles, with one sweep of a brush, they are gone and eyes are bright and awake looking.
After a long old hunt, I've finally found the perfect concealer brush. This brush has been on my lust list for a while now after seeing so many bloggers rave about it so when in Sephora, I had to pick one up. If you haven't already guessed, then I'm taking about the Sephora Pro Airbrush Concealer Brush #57. This little tool is totally awesome guys and gals, one I believe every blogger and beauty addict needs in their stash. With tightly packed together bristles, this round topped brush conceals dark circles, blends in any blemished, hides redness and covers spots making it the ultimate multi tasking concealer brush that does it all. I use mine on a daily basis in my morning routine to buff in concealer and it works like a dream. When swirled round and round in circles, concealer melts into the skin with a decent coverage, creating air brushed looking skin. With the power of being able to control whether you buff lightly for a natural finish or really build up your concealer for sometihng heavier, this is a brush for everyone, every concealer and every occasion.
