A Look Inside My Makeup Bag
It's been a while since I've sat down and shown you guys the contents of my makeup bag; the products that currently have all of my attention and that I can't stop using. I've switched a few things around lately with Summer and the warmer weather but lots of these are old favourites and cult products that don't leave my makeup bag, giving you an idea of Amour Ophelia's best in beauty. I did a post the other week on the Makeup Products I Can't Live Without, so there may be a few overlapping products but today is what's currently sitting in my rather beautiful Jigsaw x Rosy Nicholas prawn wash bag.
THE BASE
I'm switching between two primers at the moment depending on what sort of glow I want; the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer* for a more natural lit from within glow and the Erborian Glow Créme* for a far more luminous, pearlescent tint to the skin. Both are absolute favourites, allowing makeup to sit beautifully on top, last longer and make my skin look healthier for a longer period of time. Tinted moisturiser is all I use on my skin right now and my all time favourite is Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser*, I'm yet to find a product that makes my skin look better than this does. The incredibly lightweight formula simply enhances my complexion by adding a sheer tint all over that doesn't at all mask and simply lets my freckles and flushed cheeks shine through and adds the perfect amount of glow. I always use a concealer under my eyes to help brighten but just a small amount pressed in with my fingers to really warm up the product and let it melt into the skin and the Glossier Stretch Concealer is the perfect product to do just this - super light and hydrating but still covers any discolouration and also works on redness around the nose. If it's due to be a muggy / warm day then I'll very lightly dust some powder under my eyes, chin and upper lip to make sure nothing sweats off. The Laura Mercier Translucent Powder* is super finely milled so doesn't give that powdered look and with a small amount, skin still looks luminous.
THE CHEEKS
I've recently re-purchased my favourite ever bronzer and since it's been re-formulated in a matte finish, the NARS Sun Washed Diffused Matte Laguna Bronzer is better than ever at perfectly sculpting the face and adding a flattering sun-kissed look. Since I first got the Glossier Moonstone Haloscope, it's the only highlighter I've used for it really is the best. The oil infused product doesn't give the same effect like other highlighters of being a glow product that sits on top of the skin, it quite literally melts onto the face where-ever applied to look like your skin is naturally that glowy. Moonstone is the perfect highlight shade as it's clear so doesn't add any colour meaning the results are far more natural looking.
To blush, I've also been using cream only lately and I've spoken about the Rosie for Autograph Starstruck Lip & Cheek in Pink* so many times but it is such a great product for adding a really subtle, dewy flush of colour. I've also been testing out the Rosie for Autograph Starstruck Contour Stick* too which is a good cream bronze/contour alternative that blends in really well and gives a killer jawline and cheekbone.
THE EYES / BROWS
My current most used brow gel is the Suqqu Volume Eyebrow Mascara*; a super easy to apply, dark brown gel that doesn't go crunchy nor flake off throughout the day. Perfection in a brow product. For eye shadows, I am absolutely loving the new Cover FX Moonstone Shimmer Veil* - these are liquid metallic eye paints that have such a gorgeous shimmer to them, they really help to brighten the and lift the eye. Moonstone is my favourite of the range; a copper shade with some light peach tones running through it which goes perfectly with my go-to bronzed daily makeup look. The formula is really easy to work with too and unlike other liquid shadow sticks, they don't stick to the lid straight away, allowing plenty of blending time. Cream sticks are my other favourite type of eye shadow for how quick and easy they are to apply and the Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow was one of my first ever ones however sadly I can't seem to find it anywhere online but the Rosie for Autograph Cream Shadow Stick* is a more affordable alternative and one of my other favourites! If i'm in a rush, don't have time to blend or really just want something barely there and natural looking on the eye then I always reach for my NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Madrague which is the perfect matte brown and cream colour.
THE LIPS
Just a few of my favourite lip products that are on rotation right now. I usually stick to balms in the day for ultimate hydration but in the Summer, it's nice to mix it up with a tinted balm to add a bit of colour and the Lanolips Rose Tinted SPF30 Balm* is the best option, purely for being an amazing lip hydrator but also as it's got SPF30 and the perfect pink tint. Somedays I'll opt for a liner and a balm just to give me a bit of extra definition and the Rodial Nude Lip Liner* is still one of my all time favourites. It's the perfect 'my lips' shade, goes with many of my nude lipsticks and even looks great blended all over under a balm. Now for the latest entry; the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Save The Queen. WHAT a product. If you like long-wearing, matte and pigmented lips then this is for you. For me, it's an occasion lip only and not one I'd wear day to day but I wore it for a wedding recently and it stayed put glass of prosecco after glass of prosecco. Party, dinner, drinks, any event suitable.
