Valentines Day Beauty
Whether you’re spending your Valentines Day going out for the day, enjoying a special dinner out or are being whipped away on romantic weekend break, then you’ll want to be making yourself feel and look fabulous. The art of beauty that is behind beauty is that it’s so incredible versatile, there are so many things you can do with a foundation and many ways in which you can sculpt your face, whether it’s toned down for a simple look or amped up a notch into something really spectacular and dazzling. What better a day than Valentines to create a look that makes you feel confident and glam, whether it's being spent with friends, family or your loved one.
PREP
An important step into beautiful makeup is the prep, making sure you’ve got a clean, healthy base, cleansed hair and a smooth lip. Starting your pamper off with a bath or shower, Valentines Day is the time to get out the luxurious treats. For a relaxing, unwinding bath add a few drops of a lavender bath oil under running water and feel the oils soaking your skin in goodness, leaving you with glistening limbs. Slather yourself in your favourite moisturiser or body oil, (my favourites are Jurlique Rose Body Oil* and Clarins Body Lotion), to soften and hydrate your skin for the day/evening ahead. I’ll either clean my face before or after the bath with a cleansing balm to replenish any moisture loss and help promote a luminous complexion, then will apply a thick mask, depending on how my skin feels. To amp up the glow, I’ll use my LUSH Brazened Honey or Antipodes Manuka Honey* as both leave a beautifully radiant complexion.
If you’re going to be wearing a lipstick this Valentines, then you need to make sure you’ve got a hydrated lip, I love using my Rodial Lip Scrub* which contains Mango and Vitamin E, making it incredibly gentle on the lip but extremely effective. I’ll then apply a good layer of the Balance Me Lip Quench Balm* a new 100% natural lip balm that is oozing in Cocoa and Mango Butters that deeply hydrate and replenish the lip, whilst the hint of Spearmint oil adds a zingy tang. Perfect for prepping those lips but also great to carry around on the go for glossy touch ups. Available from Beauty Expert soon!
MAKEUP
Embracing the healthy glow, this Valentines I’ll be wearing layers of moisture, hydrating primers and plenty of natural looking highlights to create the upmost glowy, beautiful and sophisticated makeup look. Starting with my Dior Glow Maximising Primer, a must have makeup bag product to create that glossy skin effect. Mixed in with my By Terry Light Expert Click Brush Foundation, this creates a flawless, perfected base that is beaming with radiance. For freshly flushed cheeks, I’ll apply some MAC Lady Blush, a creamy formula that melts into the base for that natural glow and then go in with some Kevyn Aucoin highlight for a ethereal glow on the tops of my cheeks. Keeping the eyes simple, I’ll use my Rosie HW Autograph Eye Shadow Stick in Almond Eyes and create a flick with NARS Coconut Grove Eye Shadow which looks a lot more natural than a thick liner and the brown powder blends well with a champagne shimmer. After applying some mascara, it’s time to create the ideal lip. You can go two ways with a lip on Valentines, a bold red that is sexy, glamorous and striking or a subtle nude, keeping everything in tone and a lot less high maintenance. My red lipstick pick is YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 204 and for a nude offering, I’d use my Rosie HW Autograph Nude Minky.
