How To Get Glowing Skin This Winter
There's something quite magical about having healthy, glowing skin that beams with radiance and barely needs a foundation to bring luminosity, the kind of skin we experience in summer, sun kissed, bronzed and effortlessly even. As Winter hovers over us, keeping up a glowing complexion can become tricky but with the right products and routine, all can be resolved and you can achieve the complexion you dream of. Sure, the main thing you'll here is drink all the water you can, which of course, it's true but using skincare also plays a huge factor in how your skin takes to the cold so here's my current picks that are giving me some serious hydration, glow and moisture.
Just a quick disclaimer... My skin type is normal with no oiliness or major dry patches although it is very dehydrated!
L'OCCITANE Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Cream* | With ice cold winds and central heating on full blast, naturally, our skin becomes more dehydrated and can start to look dull in appearance, making a good moisturiser, an essential part of ones morning routine. To start my day, once I've washed and splashed my face with cold water, I slather on a layer of this 24 hour moisturising cream which helps to enhance my skins beauty. With fresh peony extract, this light pink formulation is idyllic for a dehydrated complexion as they are rich in plant sugars which act on correcting complexions and improving skins texture. As a morning moisturiser, this is perfect for wearing alone or underneath makeup, despite being immensely hydrating, it's not too thick and sinks into the skin beautifully creating an even, radiant, perfectly prepped base for anything going on top. Once applied, my skin looks instantly more radiant, healthy and fresh with a subtle glow of natural beauty. On a particularly bad skin day, my skin can feel dry in the mornings but once this L'occitane beauty is on, all feelings of tightness are relieved and I have smooth, velvet like skin with not a dry patch in sight.
Rodial Snake Booster Oil* | With a dehydrated complexion, moisturiser is never enough to feed my skin and really replenish it's moisture levels so I opt for an oil over night. After cleansing, toning and adding my eye cream, I'll slap on 2-3 drops of oil to work on improving my complexion as a whole. I've been using this incredibly light, beautifully scented and unique oil for a couple of months now and everything from my skins texture to radiance has improved hugely. Working behind the scenes, this snake oil fights problems from within and works on tightening skin on a long term basis, giving you the skin you deserve. With the viper venom, fine lines and any wrinkles are left looking smooth and barely there. Depending on how my skin feels, I'll either pat the oil into the skin or for a more spa like treatment, I'll gently massage it in using circular motions.
Pai Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator | Along with treating your skin with all sorts of masks, oils, creams and serums, it's just as important to exfoliate regularly so the hydrators can do their job properly. Using a bead exfoliator has totally changed my view on exfoliation, I used to be wary on the topic and didn't like to exfoliate too often as I feared I would dry out my skin but with the right product, exfoliation is key and has transformed my appearance. Pai use an ultra gentle micro-sphere system which promises to protect whilst polish as the soft beads de flake the skin. As the dead skin cells are lifted as the Jojoba beads roll over the skin, the Kukui oil and Omega's deeply nourish and feed skin with luminosity and radiance. Once massaged into damp skin, add a splash of water to turn it into a milky emulsion before rinsing with a warm cloth, all to reveal skin that is proud to be seen bare.
Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Sleep Mask* | Alongside my everyday morning and evening skincare routine, I love to use a mask round about twice a week. Masks are great for giving your skin a deep cleanse, reducing redness or in Erno Laszlo's case, giving you beautifully glowing, radiant skin. The magic behind this mask is that it works on improving your skin over night, giving you a luminous, youthful looking complexion to wake up to. Containing 24 hour smart hydrators, this really does promise moisture levels to hit an all time high and elasticity levels to be the best of the best. Before I get into bed, I apply a layer of this all over, (avoiding my delicate eye area) focussing on areas that need more work on than others, then simply nod off into a deep sleep and wake up to a whole new me. To remove the mask in the morning I'll either go in with a toner on a cotton pad or use a light cleanser to ensure everything is removed. As someone who suffers with dehydration and lacklustre skin it the winter, this has been a total skincare saviour! Available from Beauty Expert for £95! Click here for the entire Erno Laszlo range!
