New In From La Roche Posay

After a long month of wearing foundations with a fuller coverage and more long lasting finish, January is the month to embrace your natural skin and enjoy a lighter base. Finding a lighter base whether it’s a tinted moisturiser, BB or CC cream can be hard in regards to finding something that still covers blemishes and evens your skin tone. There’s two different routes you can go down with a light base, something that quite simply adds a tint of colour and radiance and it’s left at that or something that still leaves a fresh looking face but does have some foundation properties in terms of adding a build-able coverage and hiding any redness, spots or discolouration. With a new release from La Roche-Posay, a light, even base with a semi matte finish, natural yet perfected skin is achievable.

LA ROCHE POSAY EFFACLAR BB BLUR*

As someone who tends to stick to a very moisturising and glowy bases, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this release and thought it would be of too high a coverage and far too matte for my dehydrated, radiance loving skin. I’ve been testing this for about 2-3 weeks now and it’s now made it’s way into my everyday base Muji drawer, coming in a 30ml bottle, La Roche Posay have promised an oil absorbing creamy mousse BB cream that blurs skin, mimicking the appearance of a flawless face but still letting skin breathe. With a build able coverage, this is very much customisable to each person and can be adapted across a number of skin types. With a normal-dehydrated complexion, I mix in a squidge of the BB blur with two pumps of my NUDE Radiance Day Cream just to add in that extra bit of hydration I need and keep it as light as possible, this way, I’m left with a liquid-y, blend-able and light coverage base that does everything I wish for. On days when my skin has a few blemishes, some redness or just feels a tad oily, I’ll go strange in with this out of the tube and pat it into the skin with my beauty blender for a flawless, light to medium coverage, my skin still looks natural and has a slight dewy look whilst everything is concealed and set in place.

In terms of longevity, this stuff really does last on the face. I’m not one to powder my face as I like to keep everything looking fresh and so alone, this did not budge, it set in place all day and didn’t rub or melt off my skin which is everything we want to see in a base product! To finish off my makeup look, I’ve been lightly dusting some bronzer around my face in a three shape and then either leaving the cheeks like that and going in with a bold lip or keeping my lips bare with a balm and adding some peachy Tansoleil Kevyn Aucoin Blush to brighten my face.

Available now at Escentual and available elsewhere from April 2016.

LA ROCHE POSAY EFFACLAR K (+)*

As someone with a normal/dehydrated complexion but still experiences the odd blemish, I've been looking for a light treatment that reduces the appearance of the marks without drying out my skin. New in from La Roche Posay in the Effaclar range, the K+ is a daily care product combining LHA, Vitamin E and Carnosine. With gentle ingredients, this is the ideal cream for blemish prone skin as it minimises the appearance of pores, blackheads whilst mattifying the area for 8 hours. The gel like cream formula is incredibly cooling on the skin, keeping everything fresh and light. I've been using this as part of my evening routine, simply applying a dot to the blemish marks and leaving it to sink in, before going in with my face oil.
