2016 Beauty Favourites

Picking out my favourites from 2016 didn't take long. Really, I just emptied my everyday beauty bag which consists of everything I've been loving for the past few months and opened up a few of my Muji drawers to pick out some stand out products from earlier in the year that were persistently used. Despite testing out different products and mixing up my everyday face, I have the same makeup and skincare pieces that I go will always go back to and will show up in a fair few yearly and monthly round up posts.

Starting off with the skin, body, hair and scent category, it's packed full of recent product discoveries that have stood out to me the most in 2016, whether it's for their ingredients, results or concept. For hair, SHOW Beauty has been the stand out. I've been using the Repair Shampoo & Conditioner for about a month now which leaves my hair feeling nourished, strong and shiny and I can't take my hands off the Working Texture Spray, a fine spray that mists over the hair for added volume and character. Aromatherapy Associates is a brand I've always explored for their bath oils and invigorating Body Gel, but since being introduced to their skincare line, I am hooked. The Inner Strength Soothing Repair Mask instantly repairs and plumps my stressed, dehydrated skin after a day in the city and leaves it feeling soothed and strengthened. I keep a Caudalie Beauty Elixir on the go for refreshing and hydrating my skin throughout the day and have been relying on This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray to get me to sleep each night.

Clean Reserve Sueded Oud perfume sitting in the woody family with notes of temple oud, jasmine and bushman candle, has been the bottle I've reached for every day due to it's long lasting musky scent. Pai Rosehip Oil has been my skincare saviour throughout 2016 - having nearly gone through 3 bottles, it's reduced redness, faded blemishes and kept my skin healthy, supple and glowing. A fellow new brand of 2016 for me is Time Bomb, a revolutionary skincare brand that introduced the complexion shots, have now produced a mask that makes skin fizz and sparkle with their self foaming Instawow. Red carpet skin ready, in an instance.

Beauty in 2016 for me hasn't really changed much. I'm still wearing nude lips, neutral eyeshadows and glowing bases but there have been some new product's that I can't stop using. My everyday base hasn't changed from the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick since October. It's ultra creamy, non-drying formula glides over the skin and buffs in perfectly with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush for a light yet build-able, dewy base. I've been sculpting and enhancing my eyes each day with the BECCA Ombre Rouge Eye Palette, 5 buttery, rich in pigment colours that create an effortless, soft look. Likewise, my NARS Duo in Madrague is an easy, matte eye. I have Perricone MD to thank for 2016's highlight choice, the creamiest, softest, glowiest and most beautiful highlighter of all time goes by the name of the No Highlighter Highlighter and is on my cheeks, everyday.

Another cheek favourite is the BECCA Beach Tints, balmy and subtle they provide just enough of a lit from within flush of colour. (Fig and Grapefruit are my favourites). As always, the lip category is the fullest in makeup and I've been switching between one luxury and on affordable option; Chantecaille Fairy Moss a dusty rose nude, coming under the super hydrating Hydra Chic range and Kate Moss for Rimmel's 055 My Nude lasting finish lipstick. The Diptyque Nourishing Lip Balm has been a desk and handbag essential for keeping my dry lips smooth and protected throughout the winter. Enriched with rose, violet and poppy extracts, it's the luxe of luxe.

... And that's a wrap for my 2016 beauty favourites.
