September Favourites
September was a pretty big beauty month for me, I re discovered some old loves that had been hiding in the back of my makeup drawer, but more importantly, I've been testing out lots of makeup this month and have two new brands favourites; Charlotte Tilbury and Hourglass. I've only ever tried eye products previously from CT so it was time to give more of the collection a go and Hourglass, well, I think all of us bloggers lust after the blushes. Although I've been trying out quite a few different products throughout September, I had four stand out picks that didn't leave my makeup routine and I have other exciting posts which will feature the other brands. There's a lot from Kevyn Aucoin coming your way!
Bobbi Brown Scotch On The Rocks Eye Palette - £60
The one thing I love about Autumnal makeup is the intense bronze smokey eye and this Bobbi Brown palette from last Christmas is perfect for this season. With 9 versatile, wearable shades, you have a choice of bold bronzes, taupes, glittery browns or even soft champagnes ands subtle pinks, there's a shade that works for all occasions and every eye colour. I tend to reach towards warm tones around the time of the year so this palette is ideal. On a day to day basis I've been using the top left shade as a base and going in with either the light gold or a touch of bronze and really buffed it out to become something more day time friendly. With a selection of shades available, this is a great palette to grab in the mornings for something easy and with the smokier colours towards the bottom, you can take the eye look into the evening by adding a touch of brown or charcoal black.
NARS Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base - £24
For eye shadow that lasts all day and night, this is a must have. As I've been creating an eye look with my Bobbi Brown palette every day, I've been using this NARS primer before hand to ensure everything stays in place and doesn't smudge or slip off. The primer itself is incredibly light weight and creates a smooth, flawless canvas for any colour or formula going on top.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation - £32
It takes me a while to fall in love with a foundation as I usually stick to tinted moisturisers and BB creams but with a consistency and finish as beautiful as this, it was hard to put it down. I've worn this foundation pretty much every day of the month in September, whether I was going shopping, out for lunch or even to work, it was the perfect base. With a formula that is incredibly light and liquidy, you can apply a small amount for a natural, healthy finish or build it up to a medium coverage. As it is incredibly thin, it doesn't at all cake or stick together when on the skin, it blends seamlessly and simply looks like your skin, but better. With it's dewy, illuminating finish this is perfect for the colder months as it brings dull skin to life and puts back in the glow we had in summer. Containing SPF 15, this is a great day to day as your skin is not only perfected, but protected.
Hourglass Ambient Light Blush in Dim Infusion - £28
This two in one blush and highlight is the bush of the season. With a marble effect light coral and white highlight, the two shades mixed together create a beautiful soft focus pop of colour that lifts the face and creates radiant cheeks. Dim Infusion is a soft coral that can be worn alone for a natural flush of colour or over your base for healthy, youthful looking skin. I've been simply swilling the two shades together on my brush and dusting the powder across my cheeks in light sweeping motions.
