The NARS Lip Pencil Edit

If there's one lip product I would re purchase over and over again, it would be these from NARS. I've been an avid lover of the brand for years now and their famous Laguna bronzer and Orgasm blush are forever in my makeup bag. It's only in the past year or so that I've been using the lip pencils and now I know what my makeup bag had been missing all this time. Lipsticks in pencil form have slowly become the new thing and are definitely my new favourite way of jazzing up my lips. They are easy to use, handbag size and travel friendly, everything we look for in a lipstick! With three finishes available, NARS have got their pencils just right and have created three formulas, one for each occasion and every girl. Starting with the most intense of the bunch, Velvet Matte is an incredibly long lasting formula, the Satin pencil is too, long wearing but with a more satin, light weight finish and then the Velvet Gloss' are intensely hydrating and have a gloss finish.

VELVET MATTE

For a long wearing lip, these are your guys. The irrisistably smooth formulas glide onto the lips without pulling or smudging and leave a soft, buttery feel that you know is going to stay in place. The pencils are highly pigmented, meaning one swipe is enough for something suitable for everyday, or for a more bold finish then they layer upon one another beautifully. Although these are a matte finish, they are incredibly velvety and leave an even colour all over, no bleeding or feathering. I have the shade Bahama (pencil 1) which is the perfect deep pink/brown nude, an ideal every day shade. With my daily lip sorted, I wanted to try something a little bolder from the range and picked up Damned, (pencil 3). This rich magenta berry shade is perfect for the upcoming season and makes a staple A/W shade, paired with a neutral blush and a light base, this is convenient Autumn lips in a stick.

SATIN

The satin lip pencil is the perfect way to dress up your lips in a less full on manner. The formulas are just buttery, the pigments are just as rich and the application is just as easy. The only difference being the finish, this statement pencil comes in an array or nudes, plums and reds which are all finished off with a moisturised, long wearing finish that appears satin and intense. Marjella, (pencil 4) is a garnet red, something punchy,  bold yet wearable and complimenting. The smooth red is bold enough to dress up an outfit but easy enough to swipe on for a day of shopping or lunch out, it pairs well with a number of makeup looks and doesn't ever look too much. Blotted down, this can be worn faded and matte-ish or built up for a full on red lip.

VELVET GLOSS

Designed to bring the lips to life, these hydrating pencils are immensely moisturising and ensure hydration all day long as they are enriched in Vitamin E. The formula is very light weight, bendable and build able and most of all, easy to apply. These can be swiped on in the morning and topped up on the go, with or without a mirror, making them an every day staple for a my lips but better, easy makeup day. Frivolous is my most recent addition to my NARS lip pencil family and it's the easiest shade to slap on in the mornings when in a rush. The iridescent pink has a slight shimmer to it and acts like a balm on the lips with a hint of colour. Think of a lip treatment, with colour.
