Pretty Pinks

The only kind of pink you'll see me wearing is pinks in makeup and I'm not talking the bright, in your face pinks, think muted pinks, pastels and peachy pinks. There's something so soft about pink cheeks that brings the whole look together, the tiny apples of your face brought to life with colour in one sweep of a brush, lips looking perfectly plump with a juicy gloss or a matte stain and even eyes, sparkling with metallic pink hues. Having been through the peach and coral phase over summer, I'm slowly bringing pinks back into my makeup bag and working with colours that compliment each other and bounce off each other. If I was to choose one blush, it would be a creamy pot of buttery formula that glides onto the cheek but you can find powders that work just as beautifully. I'm not great with the bright pink lips, I tend to avoid that trend and go for something very muted and low key whether it's a light dab of a lipstick or a sheeny gloss. Here's the pinks I love and the pinks that are easy to wear...

POWDER BLUSH

I used to be powder blush obsessed, it was all I wore and have found some firm favourites along the way. Plums, corals and pale pinks are the colours I usually go for to add some colour to my cheeks and create effortless makeup. Powders that are finely milled and packed together tend to work best on my skin so MAC and NARS are the brands I reach for day in day out. MAC Well Dressed is the ultimate subtle soft pink hue, with a powder that sweeps onto cheeks and plumps the apples this one works best with a bold lip and some sort of smokey eye. Working with any base available, the powder smooths over foundations, tinted moisturisers and BB creams with ease, no caking or powdery finishes in sight. For something more intense, NARS Orgasm is my go to - the rich gold toned pink creates healthy cheeks that appear radiant and bright. This is perfect for special occasions when you want that extra glow and some added highlight. Deep Throat is the other NARS blush I can't keep my hands off - packed full of light particles, it creates soft focus on the skin and adds some depth to the highs of your cheeks.

CREAM BLUSH

I've been obsessed with the cream blush trend this year and all the new blushers I've brought, have been cream formulas whether their packaged up into a little pot or put into stick form, they are so easy to use and create radiant apples of the cheeks. For an easy, effortless, quick early morning pop of colour then Clinique Chubby Sticks are just the best. Robust Rhubarb is the perfect in-between peach and pink shade, I've been swiping this on most mornings recently as it glides on seamlessly, blending into your base without smearing any other products on your skin. Philosophy Lit From Within is one of my favourite pinks, the formula is oh so dreamy, pigmented but light and intense but buttery. Total heaven.

LIPS

For me, a light gloss or a tinted balm keeps my lips happy so these next picks are some of my go to products that come around with me in my bag every day. If you're after a new lip balm then Lanolips should be up there in your top 3 choices. With a number of different balms, textures and scents available but their Lip Ointment SPF15 Rose, is a saviour for dry lips that need protecting hydrating and a tint of colour. The balmy texture works well alone on lips or even added on top of a lipstick for some extra moisture and to add a light sheen. As many beauty bloggers know, By Terry has rocked the lip balm world with her famous Baume De Rose being a best seller and award winner but also on offer we have the glosses which contain the same ingredients to nourish and replenish lips but are tinted and add a lovely shine on your lips. Rosy Baby has become a lip staple for me on a daily basis whereas Gloss Terbyl Shine is more of an actual lip gloss just without the sticky, tacky feeling texture that some glosses leave. These are a treatment in a gloss that guarantees hydration and being packed full of antioxidants, lips are radiant and plump.
