The English Holiday Makeup Bag
When it comes to packing for holidays, I tend to really struggle. I start of with a good selection of clothes, then panic and chuck everything in and this has slowly become the same for my makeup bag packing. With a recent holiday to Devon ad knowing I would be spending most of my days on the beach wind swept, makeup free I tried to keep my bag as minimal as I could with a few beauty bits to slap on when I go out for dinner in the evenings. I went a bit over board on skincare and chucked in three cleansers, oils, moisturisers, toners and masks but my skin is being a little temperamental right now so I wanted to make sure I had the products to tackle the problems. After rifling through my stash, here's what I picked out to be my holiday essentials.
Whenever I go away, I take more than one base. Usually a foundation and a tinted moisturiser/BB cream so I have a day time and evening choice. My go to daily base on holiday was the IASO BB Cream*, this simply evens out my skin tone, adding a hint of colour and a beautiful glow. With a pretty good long lasting power, it managed to stay on all day despite wind and rain! Primed with the Soap and Glory Bright Here Bright Now*, my skin was looking healthy all week. For the evening base, I opted for Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation, a recent favourite and one I can't be without. The light consistency is super easy to blend in and it leaves my skin looking flawless yet natural with a dewy finish.
For cheek products, I brought a selection, my favourite NARS Laguna Bronzer, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion Blush, NARS Deep Throat for the fresh pink days and some Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight Highlight to give me a glow that glistens. To conceal the bags, I chucked in my Laura Mercier Secret Concealer which is a dark circle girls' best friend. The creamy pot combats any signs of tiredness or dark eyes and instantly lifts the area. If my eye are looking particularly dull, I'd add some Temple Spa Concealer in Light* to brighten and create a more radiant eye area.
Eye wise, I took my two favourite products; Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Jean and Chanel Eye Stylo Caroube. Both are brilliant day and night shades that blend easily, apply like a dream and last for hours. I either wore each alone or used the Chanel Stylo as a base and added some champagne hues from Charlotte Tilbury on top to make my eyes pop. Lastly for lips, what would a holiday be without Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk, this is the easiest lip liner to wear and is the perfect my lips but better shade. For some extra hydration and colour, I used my Lipstick Queen China Town Pencil in Catalina, topped with some Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm.
