How To Perfect The 'No Makeup, Makeup' Look
If there's one makeup look all girls need to know how to perfect this S/S, then it's the no makeup, makeup. There is nothing better than a fresh, radiant, light base paired with only a tint of colour on the cheeks to brighten your day and a look like this will take you all the way through to September. Of course we all have the days when our skin is feeling dull, you've got a few blemishes and you want to cover it all up, but the days when our skin is glowing and clear, there's no need to go in with a full coverage foundation, it's all about embracing your natural beauty and glowing from within this Summer. There's soooo many products out there that you can use for this look, highlighters, cream blush, a stick concealer, you get the jist, but it's all about finding which products work for you and cover your bad bits but highlight the good bits. Here's my top tips and a few product recommendations to get you started...
The key to 'no makeup' makeup is having cleansed skin, Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse is a favourite and toning with something hydrating, Clarins Toner is perfect for all skin types and keeps your skin silky soft. The real key to having glowing skin is your choice of moisturiser. When I'm going for a no makeup, makeup look, I always reach for Lush Million Dollar as it completely natural and gives such a luminous effect. With skincare done, it's time to move onto the makeup...
As were skipping foundation, BB Creams, TM's all together, you want something that is going to even out your skin tone, but add some radiance and give you a little extra hydration boost. By using NARS Multi Protect Primer, you are keeping your skin balanced, smoothing out your complexion and adding an SPF 30. On the early mornings when we haven't had enough sleep, we can all use the help of a little concealer. Using a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone will conceal any dark circles and brighten your face. To keep things quick and simple, using a concealer that does it all is your easiest option and for this, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is a great option as it's creamy and hydrating but long lasting with a natural coverage and can be used all over the face.
To illuminate the high points of your face a highlighter is essential. Benefit Watts Up is a beautiful champagne cream highlight that you can use all over your face but the places you want to highlight to really lift your face is your cheek bones, cupids bow, down the bridge of your nose and eye lids. Although you want to keep your skin really natural and use a little products as possible, you still want to add a flush of colour and the one I find the most natural of them all is Benefit Posie Tint. This pretty pink liquid stain is blend-able and build-able with a fresh finish and lasts all day. Wearing a really hydrating lip balm like By Terry Baume De Rose will keep your lips hydrated and but will also add a natural shine with a sheer wash of translucent colour.
To finish off the look, you need to groom your brows, avoid using a pencil or wax and stick with a light gel. Eyeko Brow Gel is the best you can get for something that will even out your brows and keep them in place all day without feeling crunchy or uncomfortable.
