Beauty Products Of The Season
I know Sunday's are usually the day for my Weekly Favourites but because I did May Favourites yesterday, I didn't want to overload you with favourites, so I thought I would mix things up and share with you my beauty products of the season for Spring/Summer. Along the way you will be recognising products from previous favourites post or makeup looks, but I just gathered together the products that I've used the most to put together fresh makeup looks or the staples that will be in my makeup bag taking me all the way through to the Autumn. Getting onto the good bit now, lets chat about what products have rocked from kinda March-ish onwards. My summer makeup bag usually consists largely of stick products whether its for the face, eyes or lips and there are a lotttaaa cream products that will be used on my face this Summer. Coral cheeks, nude lips, champagne highlights, lilac eyes, mauve lips, glosses or mattes, there is so much choice when it comes to summer beauty and I love how everything is fresh, glowing and bright, perfect for a hot summers day.
Once the sun has hit my face and I've caught a bit of a tan then I don't actually wear any kind of foundation, tinted moisturiser or CC/BB cream, I really can't stand the feeling of sticky foundation sliding off my skin so I usually just go straight in with a hydrating moisturiser to give me moisture and a glow and dab some highlighting concealer under my eyes for which I love my Estee Lauder BB Brush on Glow, By Terry Touche Veloutee or Loreal Lumi Magique. Now, if you don't like going completely bare faced and want a touch of coverage to even out your skin tone, then I've pulled together a high end and a drugstore option which are both heat proof, long lasting and light enough to wear in the summer without looking like you've got a tonne of makeup on. If you're into your luxury makeup then Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser is your best bet, with an SPF 15 and beautiful illuminating properties then this is your summer base sorted. If you're on a budget this year and don't want to splash the cash for a summer base then Bourjois CC Cream is the best you will find in the drugstore, (in my opinion) Light and blendable, this can be sheered out to a really natural finish but can be built up in places you need more coverage, making it ideal for the days when your skin is feeling 'eurgh'.
Every morning when it comes to doing my makeup, I never know whether to go cream or powder on the cheeks, do I want something long lasting and shimmery or something fresh and glowing? You've probably all guessed the answer already - fresh & glowing with my creams, but I do love a powder blush or highlight so lets talk about all the options. The one beauty product I think should be an essential in every girls makeup bag is the NARS Multiple. We all need a multitasking product that can be used to add a pop of peach to the cheeks, a tint to your lips or a shimmer to the eye and with the NARS multiples, you can do just that. Everyone's heard of the Orgasm blush, but have you heard of the Orgasm in cream form? Oh yes, for rose-y gold, glowing cheeks that give all over radiance then these your best option, but if you're more into the bronze goddess look for summer, then South Beach is a great option. The deep bronze warms up the cheeks and temples with a natural shimmer that gives a gorgeous glow. Other options include the Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks or the No7 Blush Sticks
For the powder days then an all in one palette is a easy, on the go option. The Revlon Highlighting Palettes are great for a blush/bronze with an added in highlight meaning you are using less products and your makeup will feel even more lightweight. As a blush alternative, Sleek have an incredible range of shades, with pigmented buttery formulas that make great dupes for the famous NARS bush. If I'm wearing cream blush & bronze then I do like to stick to the cream theme and finish off the look with a cream highlight. The MAC Cream Colour Bases have been a stand out product for me this Spring and will be something I use throughout the rest of summer whether its alone or with a blush. For something on the peachy champagne side of things then Hush is ideal or if you're into the more pearly, frosty highlights then Luna and Pearl will be more suitable.
Eye shadow this season has been all about the creamy pots that give a metallic finish and set to a long lasting finish. For colours, I've been loving deep bronzes/coppers or for something on the lighter side of things then a champagne/ subtle lilac. Benefit Eye Shadow Cream Pots and Clinique Chubby Eye Sticks have been some of my go to products, making them staples in my bag. We tend to leave behind the matte reds and deep purples as we move away from winter and step into summer, picking up a few glosses and light lippies along the way. My favourite type of lip to go for in Summer is literally just a light balm which hydrates and nourishes but adds a tint of colour at the same time. Seomthing like the Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balm is perfect for this or the Dior Lip Glow Addict. However, for the past 2 months, I've worn the By Terry Lip Gloss or the Baume De Rose Crystal. I honestly can't stop wearing them - they are incredibly hydrating and luxurious feeling on the lips with a rose scent that makes you want to eat them... Not a good idea.
