A New Blue

Having been wearing Barry M Eat My Dust on my nails non stop recently, I thought it was time to mix things up and switch my nails around. Yes, I have moved onto another blue polish, but I am addicted to them, especially in the Spring. When it comes to a nail polish, there's 3 things I look out for: application, finish and longevity, oh and I obviously have to like the colour, you get the jist, they have to apply smoothly and last longer than 12 hours. A gloss/gel finish is preferred by myself, I find them the most flattering and complimentary, so let's see how this new polish compares to my old favourite...

The new favourite blue is Lola Bluebell, not so pastel in tone and more of a cornflower blue, but by far one the of best nail varnish formula's I've ever tried. Talking application, the small brush applies evenly with soft strokes, coating the nail. For an opaque finish that will last me 3+ days without chipping, I add 2 layers and it does not budge. Winning.

The finish holds a slight shine, nothing over top, but nothing too subtle, it is definitely a very much 'I'm here' shine, but doesn't shine like a Barry M or Nails Inc gel finish would, but I can work with that. Lola nail polishes can be found on Marks & Spencer's for Β£8 and the incredible formula does come with a pretty awesome shade range. With pinks, reds, burgendy's and mints available, I will definitely be back to pick up more Summer shades. If I'm looking to really amp up the gloss, then I'll always reach for a top coat, likewise to any normal polish. The No7 Gel Top Coat adds a  natural shine to the nail and keeps it in place for longer. with a base coat like Essie Grow Stronger underneath, this will last you days on end. To give you an idea of where these lie with other nail polishes, I would put them with Essie; affordable, with a good colour range.

What nail polishes are you loving right now?
