The Classic Collection: Foundation

If you've been following my blog then you may or may not have seen on twitter what this 'Classic Collection' is all about. If you're new to my blog then you probably have no idea what this is, so let me tell you! I'm doing a mini series called 'The Classic Collection' which will feature my favourite product for each beauty category, posted every Monday. Featuring drugstore and a high end pick, there is something for everyone! Here are my favourites for this weeks category, Foundation.

Starting with high end, I picked the Giorigo Armarni Luminous Silk Foundation. After hearing endless beauty bloggers (Vivianna Does Makeup being the main one) talk about this product SO much I thought I had to try it out! After trying endless foundations from MAC to EstΔ“e Lauder to Bobbi Brown, I hadn't ever found the one foundation I fell in love with and would repurchase over and over again.. All up until this little beauty came into my life. I can safely say, I have found my p-e-r-f-e-c-t foundation. So here is why I love it so much... the finish is immaculate, not being matte, nor super dewy, it is in the middle of the two, making your skin look flawless. Depending on how much coverage you like, this can give a light coverage if applied with fingers or a stippling brush or if you are the kinda gal or likes a medium to full coverage, you can use a buffing brush. (this is my personal preference as I use it for nights out!) It's long lasting and doesn't cake up on the face if you apply more layers. Coming in a gobsmacking 21 shades, there is a colour for everyone out there! I use shade 4 now but I'll be going back for a darker shade in the summer! The packaging for this is so simple and effective, the black lid is sophisticated, paired with a matte bottle and the pump dispenses the right amount of product in one go to do my whole face! Now the only negative about this is the price it comes in at... Β£35.50 from Selfridges, which is a lot of money for a foundation but I find it is so worth it and one bottle lasts such a long time!

Now for the drugstore pick. Of course it's going to be my trusty Bourjois Healthy Mix. I am completely in LOVE with this foundation, I buy it over and over again and sometimes buy two bottles at once so I have a constant supply! The finish is similar to Luminous silk, if not a little more dewy. This lasts well on the skin, but doesn't have the amazing lasting power that Luminous Silk does. Coming in 8 shades, I wear 52 Vanilla but would probably pick up 51 Vanilla next time as I find this is a little bit too dark for me in the winter months! Let me tell you why this is the best drugstore foundation on the shelves. The texture is so lightweight, it feels like you aren't wearing any makeup at all! The coverage I would say is medium but can be light if you use only a small amount and blend it in with your fingers. Bourjois claim that it lasts '16 hours' however I haven't worn it for this long so I can't comment on that, but it does last well in the day. This foundation hydrates my skin and gives me a radiant, dewy finish. Coming in at a much nicer price of Β£9.99 from Boots, this is a great foundation if you don't want to spend lots of money.

What are you favourite drugstore & high end foundations? I would love to know!
